Update and Treasuries

Hello all
so far school has been taking up much of my free time and my sewing machine needs to be looked at cause with some fabrics the thread tension is wacky, no progress on my dresses hopefully with coming break will be sufficient to get them done and ready for spring wearing.

I have been having a lot of internet time, since all of my classes are online and that means of course that procrastination pushes me to scout the web like crazy. I've found new fashion inspiration!
Do not fret I haven't left Lolita fashion I am just adding to my repertoire.

Here goes!
natural kei
dolly kei
mori girl
fairy kei/pop kei/ Spank!
and hybrids between these and lolita

Dolly kei has to be my favorite of the bunch since, it is the thriftiest and I already managed to come up with many outfits with hardly 100 USD spent. I plan on mixing Lolita with Dolly kei. Lolita bell-shaped skirt, OP, and JSK with Dolly kei blouses, and accessories which will probably look like a mix of Classic Lolita and Gothic Lolita.

Something along the lines of :

I also made a treasury for haunting accessories for dolly kei on etsy.

I will be posting about the other fashions soon!

Project

I have been longing for a lilac skirt for some time now and after visiting my local JoAnn's I saw a cute polka dot and lilac fabric I thought I could make something myself.

I am planning on making a simple gathered skirt with a half elastic waist band. This is my second time making a half elastic waist band and the first time I didn't get the desired results.

This is my basic idea for what it should look like this sans the button up section.

III also bought this fabric a while back at Shabby Fabrics , when they had free shipping. I love their fabric stock. It is more classic and sweet classic inclined. There are so many beautiful items, I had a surge inspiration.

For the floral fabric, I'm planning on making something like this:

An empire waist jsk with pin-tucks on the bodice and near the hem and ruffle at the hem.

As for the striped fabric... I still haven't a clue what I can make. I am scouting the web for ideas.

These two project will be slow to progress, I am starting school soon. I guess these will keep me form stressing to much on just school.

Classic VS Sweet: Or My Internal Conflict

For some reason unknown to me Lolita sisters (Classic and Sweet particularly OTT) are feuding. As each launches verbal bombs against the other and some avid supporters of each side churn out some pretty hilarious comics. I have to but sit on the fence about the whole issue, wondering am I the only Lolita that like all 3+ styles? In all honesty if I had a massive wardrobe I'd probably be substyle jumping on a whim. I have always loved Gothic fashion (not just the Loli kind), Historical fashions (Victorian, Rococo, Marie Antoinette, Edwardian, et al) way before I ever set eyes on Lolita fashion. And when I did first see the wonders of the Lolita realm, while watching the oh so adorable Miwako from Paradise Kiss, I thought that OTT sweet was the way of this fashion. I discovered Gothic Lolita after a little more research on the topic. I learned of Mary Magdalene (brand), and consequently Classic Lolita, through a fashion download for the Sims 2. I was struck down like Momoko from Kamikaze Girls (sans the ability to lie to get the money for Loli) by all of Lolita (though I never really liked Grotesque Lolita, it is beautiful in it own right but not for me.) I love the beauty of all Lolita styles the 3 main and the emerging styles (mori lolita, fairy lolita et al) and will probably keep jumping around styles and perhaps even mix it with others. That's the fun of fashion.... Right?

Falling off the horse.

I haven't worn lolita since New Years!

I just realized with after turning in my last midterm essay. I want back in! I need something new to wear maybe for the spring? Money issues has made a tight knot on my purse strings so I guess I just have to sew something. I wonder what exactly?

I guess I'll have to spend some time brainstorming though I am very much inclined to making a cute floral skirt and a blouse. Or maybe a cute jsk for the warm days that are coming.

Must scout the sites for ideas!
